About me and Photography
Born in Germany as an American citizen. Lived in the Southern States of the USA most all of my life. Began an art passion in my youth and then migrated into photography back in the analog days. I had the luxury of being a dependent of my father's military service which provided me with educational tools, such as access to photo darkroom resources. This paved a smooth path for absorbing quite a bit about film processing which evolved into me building my own dark room… at home of course.
In the late 70’s I earned a little college money working in a family owned professional Photography business. I assisted with darkroom tasks like helping process school pictures. Shortly thereafter I used some of the cash to buy my first used 35mm Fujifilm camera, an ST body with screw mount lenes. The best manual analog Black and White rendering camera I ever used. Of course eventually I moved over to Nikon cameras due to a more conventional lens mount… that and I loved the song Kodachrome. From there I began to embraced many different techniques including, micro and infrared photography up through the 90’s.
I’ve always had an interest in larger format cameras especially when viewing artists works such as Ansel Adams… but of course indeed! You name it!! The parent of today’s foundation of composition and the ingenious use of black and white… and so much more. His presentations still amazes today. Because of his work I decided to experience the medium format - basically because I’m a croppin’ kinda guy.
My motive for pursuing photography is the quest for finding the unusual, the novelty, freshness or innovation. No matter when or who is searching, any visual occurrence can be seen in many different ways, but, in this respect, not everyone has the desire to search. Even if so, being fortunate to match proper place, time and location in order to stumble on the beauty and quirks of nature can be a long rocky road. However, sometimes when we do seek and the stars are in line it’s no longer a hard routine, it’s sublime.
A photographer does this not just for his or her own pleasure but also to show others what can be seen.
I just want to show phots that are EYE CATCHING
So there’s my story.
I’m searching for a photo, possibly a shade different, with the desire to find, see and share , portions of the world we live in.
There’s choices of locations on this web site that I visited with an appreciation and wishes to capture the scenic, breathtaking and needless to say dramatic amazing sculptures of life. Remember! The beauty is always in the eye of the beholder, not just me.
